Kodesh House offers Jewish Meditation
Judaism has a long history of meditation and contemplative practice. Although most of the community might be unaware of it, Jewish mysticism is rich in deep meditative techniques. The intention, the goal, in Jewish meditation is always to get closer to our Creator. This practice is helpful in developing the awareness of the Divine spark contained in all of creation, and in emulating the Divine attributes of compassion and loving-kindness.
The relaxation techniques are powerful for the healing of body and soul as well as concentration. Jewish meditation also opens us to Divine blessings and helps us be a source of blessings in this world. Kodesh house offers meditation sessions. You may also use the basic meditation technique in this web page along with the music for a deep relaxation experience. |
Breathing Jewish Meditation
One misconception about meditation is that we must remove all thoughts from our minds. While this is correct in some respect, it is not entirely true. There are many ways to reach a meditative state. Any repetitive action, with the right frame of mind, is conducive to meditation. There are so many opportunities during the day!
However, a good way to start is to decide to devote a short period of time, even five minutes, for quality meditation. Here is a breathing meditation technique. The benefits of this practice are amazing: health/healing of the body and the mind as well as spiritual awareness. |
Sit in a comfortable position, straighten - but don't stiffen - your upper body, the spine has a natural curvature. Your head and shoulders can comfortably rest on top of your vertebrae.
Focus on your breath as it flows in and out of your system. Release all other thoughts.
Notice the sensation of your breath, as it moves across your skin just below your nostrils, and above your upper lip.
Feel the sensations as you inhale and exhale. Don't make any attempts to alter your breath. Just notice it the way it is.
As you breathe in and out,
imagine the universe expanding and contracting with you.
Breathe in Divine Light. Positive energy.
Breathe out all negativity from your body. Expel stress, pain, weight on the mind and shoulders.
And replace the void with Divine Light, Divine energy.
